ABOUT ST GILES
St Giles International is a language teaching and teacher training institution which has operated in San Francisco for over twenty years. It was the first institution to provide short, practical training programs in TESOL in the USA and the first to offer Cambridge University approved teacher training courses such as the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults or CELTA. St. Giles International San Francisco belongs to a group of language schools and teacher training centers founded in England in 1955, with centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil and China. The San Francisco center runs CELTA teacher training courses throughout the year and is the largest, most established Cambridge CELTA training center in the United States. From 2004, St Giles International San Francisco will be expanding its teacher training activities to offer the Cambridge DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults).
Paul Lindsay (BS, MA Linguistics) is the founder and chairman of the board of directors of the St Giles International group. He is also CEO of the St Giles Educational Trust and he supervises the teacher training programs at St Giles in Highgate London, Brighton and Sao Paolo, Brazil as well as in San Francisco. As former chairman of the Association of Recognized English Schools in the UK he was responsible for raising standards in the field of TESOL and ensuring the quality of English language teaching. He has always taken a keen interest in the training and professional development of teachers, and he has set up teacher training programs in several countries including the United States where he was the first to introduce Cambridge / RSA teacher training courses in the 1980s. He is also the author of Teaching English Worldwide: A New Practical Guide to Teaching English.
